On Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 35-6 at EverBank Stadium. The Jaguars scored on their opening possession and led 14-0 after the first quarter.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence completed 18 of 25 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown, a one-yard pass to Tim Patrick in the fourth quarter. Lawrence also rushed for a touchdown. Running back Travis Etienne Jr. carried 22 times for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Rookie Bhaysul Tuten added a rushing touchdown as well.
The Jaguars totaled 345 yards of offense, including 192 rushing yards on 42 carries. They converted 8 of 13 third-down attempts and held the ball for over 37 minutes.
Los Angeles managed only 135 total yards, with 42 rushing yards on 15 carries. Quarterback Justin Herbert completed 14 of 27 passes for 93 yards, threw one interception, and was sacked four times. Kicker Cameron Dicker accounted for the Chargers’ only points with two field goals from 45 and 48 yards. Herbert was replaced by Trey Lance with 11 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Jaguars defense forced two turnovers, including a 43-yard interception return by Antonio Johnson that set up a second-quarter touchdown. Jacksonville also recorded four sacks and limited the Chargers to just eight first downs.
